Today’s announcement of £70B (over the next 30 years) investment in transport concentrates on the corridor from Liverpool to Hull. There is a lot of investment between Sheffield and Manchester and Hull and improvements to lines between Manchester and Liverpool and Leeds. The only mention of any area north of that is the A66 between Scotch Corner and Penrith (presumably dualling past the Ravensworth junction)
This new investment is less than London alone gets every year so, once again. We end up subsidising CrossRail and services in the capital.
