Friarage Hospital SignWe’re still fighting the closure of the Mental Health wards at The Friarage. Now the South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust is ‘engaging’ with the public over the future of the hospital.

The first engagement session was at Northallerton Town Hall on Monday 9th October. They are using the difficulty in recruiting anaesthetists to, essentially, downgrade the hospital. The hospital will remain open but it will lose major services such as A&E.

On the calendar section of the website is the list of the engagement sessions. Please try to go along if you can.

Meanwhile, Jo Foster has produced a useful briefing paper with the background.
