Hole in ceilingYoung people are the future of our country. One thing that we should not stint on is education.

Today on the BBC website they are telling the story of a school in Wolverhampton. Budget cuts mean that they have had to sack 14 teachers – and the school has more than 300 holes in its roof.

The headmaster has a £350,000 budget shortfall for next year and the repairs to the roof will cost £5M. The shortfall will no doubt mean fewer teachers and bigger class sizes.

The Government keeps on saying that they are putting more into education but it’s clear that, if they are, it’s not getting to the right places.

Further Education is struggling with Colleges on their knees. If we want to improve productivity and skills education is not a luxury but a necessity.
