The row about the Bombardier deal with Delta Airlines and the resultant spitting out of the corporate dummy by Boeing has resulted in the US putting a 219.63% tariff onto the aeroplanes.

The truth is that the USA wants to sell stuff to US but they are less keen when it comes to buying from us if it threatens their own industries. This is a fall out between the US and Canada (who already have a trade deal – NAFTA) but, in Trump’s America, any threat to US jobs gets a maximum response.

Jobs in Belfast are already at risk due to Brexit and the fragile peace doesn’t need much to upset it and to move back to open hostilities again.
