Tories fake claim to have banned credit card chargesOn January 13th the Tories claimed that they had banned credit card charges. They even produced this onliune ad.

Theresa May also tweeted that they were “banning hidden charges” and the move would enable “millions of people avoid rip-off fees”.Theresa May claiming credit for EU directive.

The truth is more interesting. The EU passed the Payment Services Directive II on November 16th 2015. The UK government was obliged to comply with this Directive by 13th January 2018. We had from January 12th 2016 to the 13th January this year to implement the Directive.

If Theresa May was so keen for this legislation why didn’t the Tories introduce it any earler?
