• A&E consultation live (ends Dec 6th). No option on offer for A&E to be re-opened. Root cause is lack of staff and underfunding. While it is a national issue, rural hospitals feeling the pressure particularly badly. This is happening on Rishi Sunak’s watch so we need to press home that point. PK mentioned that the Conservative policy is to allocate funding in those constituencies that have narrow majorities, such as Watford. In Richmond, Sunak’s majority is 23k, so there is little funding.
  • PW reported on lack of challenge by the Scrutiny of Health Committee of County Councillors – dominated by Tories..
  • There are a series of consultation meetings throughout the area (JF shared timetable), and members are encouraged to attend. We’ve created a NHS leaflet to run alongside the consultation. distributed. Jo asked for volunteer leaflet distributors at the meetings (please let Jo know on campaign@rylibdems.org.uk if you are keen to help). JP offered to help JF at the Richmond meeting on 21st PW planning to attend.
