Responding to the decision to block Worboys’ release, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Home Affairs, Ed Davey, said:
“We welcome the landmark decision made by the High Court today to overturn the release of John Worboys. The evidence heard by the Court begs serious questions about how the Parole Board made the terrible decision to release Worboys.
“The Parole Board process must now be reviewed, so that the difficult balance between independence and accountability can be improved, without any politicisation.
“Ministers must involve all parties in Parliament in the search for reforms that tackle this issue without letting Ministers to intervene into individual prison sentences.”
